So, with the possiblity that Johnston County may be getting a new FM station, the question that comes to mind is.... what would they play? Thought a quick poll would be interesting to see which way the local crowd leans when it comes to music! 8)
It's not exactly a new station. Its 102.3FM which currently has its studio in Goldsboro. They're just moving the tower to central Johnston County to put more emphasis on the Johnston County market. When I talked to Don Curtis last week,he was not sure if the studio would be moved to Johnston County or not. Currently the station plays oldies.
I love 94.7! I really enjoyed 99.9, because it played a lot of classics. But they didn't last long before they became an all-sports station...:?: I voted for oldies, just because there seems to be plenty of everything else around.
well then, if I "have to vote" I would go for Classic Rock. Unlikely I would ever listen to it, but that would be my preference.
Decent country station? Classic Rock? Good lord people. How many country stations do we need? 10? We already have 2 classic rock (100.7 and 96 Rock - sure they dont say they are classic but if you listen....)...and 103.5 if you can pick it up. Country and Classic are done to death. We need a 105.5 station (like you hear out of Wilmington) that plays metal.
No offense folks, but I can't see why we need yet another country station. There's like five of them already. I'd be happy with an oldies format, esp if it is motown sort of stuff.
another in wilmington that rocks is 98.7...more like what 96 Rock used to be before they became the new WRDU.
Think that is probably 102.3 which was mentioned earlier. Maybe if they get a better tower....they'll play some decent oldies...not just whitebread oldies and a few motown hits...but actually some classic soul now and then.
ok ok stop digging in the garage for your old 4 inch glitter disco platforms!!!!! No you can not tease your hair, wear a head band or a skirt with a hankerchief hem. you in teased hair would be entertaining though... Disco...hmmmm....to think that much alcohol before nine am...... ------------------------------- I want oldies..and not just that doo wop stuff. some standards thrown in and some motown.
Smooth jazz..... and think of the market for it in offices, and reception areas... the station in the Tampa-St Pete market leads the area stations in revenue from ads...
ken i think he's talking more about a new adult contemporary kind of station with like spyro gyra and kenny g and larry carlton and like that, a la The Wind from here in the triangle in the 90's
