Obama and The New Party?

    Wasn't too sure what to make of this. Its from the Wayback Machine, an archive of old webpages, that shows that Barack Obama was a member of the New Party in the mid-nineties. It suppose to be a party of socialist democrats. Is this correct?

    It states that he is a NP-member.

    It's a leftest organization and as far as I'm concerned, he's still a member. It fits in with his ideology.

    It would appear that, based on the "About Us" page, the "New Party" is to the Democrats what "Libertarians" are to Republicans, albeit not an official party (yet).
