Auction questions http://www.westerauction.com/2009/01_29/pictures.shtml Does anyone know how these auctions work? Do you bid on items (like in a normal auction) or do you just shop? What does "10% buyers premium" mean? Thanks!
I thought it was a 'normal' auction with an auctioneer, but I am not sure now. The amount you bid/pay will be increased by 10% which is the premium for the auction company.
they are liquidating...so for now, its just your normal shopping. bonus: there are two coupons in the new Clipper too!! I will be there this weekend to check it out.
I have to wonder though.. if they auction company is handling the liquidation, will they accept the coupons? Like Linens n Things, when the liquidation company took over, they wouldn't accept their coupons anymore. Maybe when they decided to liquidate it was too late to get the coupons removed from the Clayton Clipper because it had already gone to print?? I was just thinking, not to be surprised if they don't take them.
good thought there my tass-o-licious sister....I had not even pontificated that. They probably won't, now that you mention. which is fine....she had stuff very reasonably priced I thought anyways, so if its on sale....even better.
I'm always that and arrogant, ignorant, A-hole. I picked a walk in life I couldn't fail at... :jester::lol:
I just got back. Ugh. I did buy a couple of small things...but the auction workers were awful - they were very disorganized and kinda snide - IMHO. They said the ANnex is in fact going out of business (not just turning over their inventory, as previously pondered). The pricing is.....look at what is on the tag and take 50% off. Plus tax. Period. Bring packing material in case you buy anything breakable - they just threw all of my stuff in 1 bag with no regard to the fragile-ness of items. I got there at noon when they opened, and when I left at 12:25 (10 minutes of that was standing in line - they have only 2 registers), the check out line was out the door. And there were a LOT of kids in there - small ones that weren't being minded.... (Lotsa breakables) :ack:
I was there for a short while too, I ended up leaving. I will prob try to go back when it is not so crowded. I was hoping some stuff would be 80% off but I did not see any.
My husband went in there before they opened this morning and bought back the pie safe that he had made for Marlo. It will be taking place over three weekends so things aren't going to be priced at 80% right now. He wasn't able to take it home just yet, he has to wait the three weeks since items were being displayed on it.
