I just did a search and nothing came up...can't believe this hasn't been mentioned yet, unless maybe it's in the 'hood, I never go over there anymore...anyway, who's been following this story? I don't really watch the news anymore, but my mom in NY mentioned it quickly over the phone when it first happened, just asked if I had heard about it, and I hadn't, so she just told me what she knew, which wasn't much. I really didn't pay any attention still, then 2 days ago I was reading an article about it, and she said he was from Syracuse (1/2 hour from where I am from) but the article didn't say anything like that, so I figured it was just hearsay. Well, what do you know, not only is he from my area, but he went to school with my sister! He's just a year older than her, and he grew up 15 minutes from me! (I actually got married in the town he's from) Scary stuff! Where he's from is VERY small town, so this is huge news for us up there! My sister doesn't really know him, but recognized him immediately on the news, and some people she works with knows him better I guess. No one can believe he's done this. I wonder what made him snap? One thing they've been talking about on the news a lot since yesterday is his gambling he's been doing in Foxwoods (is that the name of it?)...well, just down the road from where he's from is a big casino, so I'm wondering if he's always had a gambling problem, or if this is something new? Anyway, just thought that was kind of strange, and what a small world this really is!

Wow - it is a small world! Although he looks pretty harmless, sure sounds like they got some evidence on him. Feel sorry for his family and fiance - can you imagine thinking you 'know' someone and getting ready to marry them and then this happens.....

I still don't know that much about it, because when I watch WRAL they don't talk about it, and I don't watch the world news. But there are a lot of crazy people in the world. Hubby is getting pretty freaked out lately, on us all the time to have doors and windows locked all the time, etc. He thinks people are starting to get pretty desperate in these times...
Maybe he got his gambling skills from Turningstone up near there?? :jester: Honestly, I am not surprised by anything anymore, the shooting in Binghamton (near where I am from) made me realize nobody and nowhere is safe no matter the size of the town or where you are at. It's sad that things have become this way but we also have to focus on the good people around too and not live our life in fear because of some crazy person. Have you ever heard of Memphis NY, my brother and sil live there and they work in Baldwinsville and Cato Meridian schools?
Yeah, Turning Stone is what I was talking about. I've been going there every chance I get since the day I turned 18 (literally!)
Have not heard of Memphis, NY, but have heard of the others...I remember hearing of Cato Meridian when we'd have school closings! (it's a name you can't forget...)
