We've had UHC 5+ years and have never had a problem! I've had 3 surgeries in the last 2 years and all have gone smoothly. We've had the same doctors for each member of the family (5 of us) for the entire time. No complaints from us!
We've had United Healthcare for years and years and years. I've never had a problem with them. Maybe I've just been lucky but all the doctors I have always been to have accepted UHC. We pay $20 copay at each Dr. visit and $35 for each specialist visit. My DH and I both have had surgeries over the years and never had to pay a dime out of pocket.
We had them for a while; probably 4-5 years. Then they went rouge with WakeMed and we dropped them. My doctor's office was one of the docs that ditched them b/c of the whole WakeMed debacle so it was a no brainier for us to change. Also, I tried for 4 years to get a much needed surgery but they denied me half a dozen times even though I had a team of doctors and specialist proving I needed the surgery. When we changed insurance co. I was approved in less than a week after requesting the surgery. United was good for the most part for the basic, run-of-the-mill medical needs but as soon as you have something more than a well-child check-up or annual exam they question your motives and all involved. They also did not pay claims in a timely manner. Many times I would go to the doc's office and they would request I pay part of my balance that the insurance hasn't paid yet... they always got an astounding NO! After I got denied about the 3rd time I learned to really NOT like their customer service line because they seem to employee the highest ranking dumbarses on the plant. Sorry chick! Hate it for ya, United sucks balls.
