Jan 2026 ice storm

    so, what are your guesses? we are close to the line between warning and watch. i sure hope power stays on.

    I think it can go either way for use, since we are right on that line. I am hoping like heck we keep power.

    Looks like we got about 0.25" of ice on most elevated surfaces. All gone by today. Complete bust compared to what they predicted.

    Left at 815 this morning, made it to work at 900. 50/42 area, NC 50 to 540 to NC 54 to airport Blvd. Normally 35 min in morning, 45 today. in unusual weather i usually take 540 in morning, as they have the independent snowplow groups and less traffic for someone to be crazy. 50 had 2 lines to follow where people had drove. 540 was wet but clear. i drove 55 and slowed on bridges. saw 2 cars spun out, but appeared to have been from yesterday.

    Boston was to get 20 in of snow. they got 12. weather people were off by about 40% of precipitation amounts.

    The current forecast doesn't look that great either.

    Yup. I told my wife I was just gonna leave the generator hooked up for awhile!

    Weather Underground.

    GFS/NOAA model is still off the charts for our area.
