Yeah, I'll get my Whataburger fix in about a month when it calms down. The line yesterday afternoon was past Wawa and halfway up Masonboro Rd, almost back to Veterans Parkway. Even the Wawa parking lot seemed busier than normal, so maybe people were parking there and walking over.

A new McDonald's is confirmed for one of the outparcels in front of the Publix on NC 50. :(

I mean WHY!!! Can't we get some better restaurants here. I think there are plenty of McDonald's around here!

    Because they can!

As much as people say they want more options, we are still basically in the country. The larger, better players, need a much larger tax base to support and make their operations profitable. Every time a new subdivision is announced all people seem to do is complain. Well, if we are ever going to get some of the big players out here, there is going to have to be much more building happening. This is not Raleigh or Cary and for that I am thrilled. Reminds me of the old adage of “you can’t have your cake and eat it too”.

I wonder if it's the same franchisee as the one at 40/42?

Don't feel bad, they're putting a 7 BREW! in Dunn RIGHT next to a BK AND a Taco bell!
EDIT: Wendy's is NOT moving there, we're getting a 7 brew.

I used to be able to look at the Town of Claytons GIS map and be able to click on a project and see the site plans, architect drawings, etc. I can't find how to see that information anymore, can anyone with that knowledge tell me how to find that now? Or, can you find a link to the site plans for the expansions at Johnson Memorial Hospital on Veterans Pkwy? There is a new patient tower, moving the helipad and maybe an ER expansion. Thanks!

They definitely don't make it easy, this is the helipad that was recently moved - https://townofclaytonnc.civicweb.net/document/330244/

As for the actual expansion, according to their site it is still just proposed. Even though I see work has started. - Expansion of the existing UNC Health Johnston Clayton Hospital consisting of 114,922 sf with associated parking, landscaping, site lighting,

Thanks Jesse, at least I know it's not just me!

I try to keep on top of those things over there, since it's just a hop over the creek in my backyard. I know we got the notice to move the helipad so they could add on to the ER, 12 more beds i think. I don't recall seeing, getting or hearing anything about the 3 story patient tower though. Also, not sure what they are doing in the front corner of the parking lot, TA Loving has fencing up and they've torn up the pavement.

JCC also purchased 50+ acres off of Johnson Estate Rd for a future medical education campus.

I assumed the area fenced off by the road is just being used as a lay down yard, it was just a grass field before. I think they may add parking there when they are done though.

Also a dentist office is going in next to 7-11, and the site next to that is approved for fast food with drive thru.

Oh, and the sign is up at Veteran's parkway by Walmart, a WaWa is coming there at the light. They have foundation work already completed, working on the road on the westbound side too.

After a bunch of clicking around, I did see on the towns map that it said McDonalds next to the dentist office.

So, a new MCD at the 7/11 and at the Publix. Plus, the original at 40/42.

The site is less than an acre (0.68 buildable), seems very small for a McDs. The one at 40/42 is on 1.06, and that feels tight. The one in Flowers is 1.1. On Clayton Blvd is it 1.14.

But maybe they include that road section to the north in it, then it is about an acre.

TGI Fridays closed at White Oak. wasn't nearly as fun as it was 30+ years ago, but we still went about once every other month.

Almost none left it seems in the Triangle. I feel like several of the Applebee's in the Triangle must be on their way out as well. We have been to two in the past year, and it felt like the place has majorly went downhill.

Speaking of that Ruby Tuesday's always amazed me they are still in business as well. Last one in the Triangle is at 40/42. Interestingly, I noticed there are two other restaurants at the same address, wierd.

So many of these chains don't seem to be doing well, service and quality really went downhill.

On another note, we love the new Outback in Clayton. Service and food there has been great every time we go, and they always seem busy.

The DQ in Morrisville just closed. Sign on door said it had been there 19 yrs. (Morrisville Carpenter Rd & Davis Dr). I'd sneak over there 2 times a month for a $7 meal deal. when i went 2 people usually eating with 3 workers. By the way the DQ app is very good. rewards add up pretty quick.
