Johnston County Releases Fourth Draft of Proposed UDO

Johnston County releases the fourth draft of the proposed Unified Development Ordinance (UDO). The public may view the proposed draft and summary of the latest revisions on the Planning Department's website.

Help Shape the Future of Johnston County at Upcoming UDO Public Hearings

    Week 1: Oct. 20 at 6pm

    Week 2: Oct. 26 at 6pm

    Week 3: Nov. 2 at 6pm

Johnston County residents have three more chances to help shape the County’s proposed Unified Development (UDO). The first is a public hearing before the Johnston County Planning Board, which will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Courthouse in Smithfield.

To hear as many voices as possible, the Planning Board will continue its Oct. 20 public hearing at 6 p.m. Oct. 26, also at the Courthouse. The board may follow that hearing with a vote on whether to recommend Commissioners adopt the UDO, amend it, or table it for more work.

The Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at the Courthouse.

Commissioners could adopt the UDO two weeks later, at their 6 p.m. meeting on Nov. 16.
