Thought it would be interesting to get some "real life" comparisons of different ISP's used in the local area and the speeds everyone is getting. To kick things off, here's my connection info and speed test: ================================== ISP: Sprint/Earthlink DSL 2005-05-04 14:36:35 EST: 1159 / 196 Your download speed : 1187820 bps, or 1159 kbps. A 144.9 KB/sec transfer rate. Your upload speed : 201488 bps, or 196 kbps. ================================== To test your connection, use the link below: http://www.dslreports.com/stest Please note, that you have to have Java activated on your browser for the test to work. For comparison sake, scroll down the test page when you get there and select the SpeakEasy link for testing using the server at Seattle, CA, USA. Using the same testing server will give us more of an "apples to apples" comparison. Once the test runs, it will display a graph with the results, showing the current speed of your connection. It is also summarized in a box at the top of the page, which you can cut and paste here so you can list your results. Ladies and Gentlemen....start your Internet engines! Who has the fastest connection on 4042.com?!?! (Please note that your speed test can vary widely depending on the time of day and the current condition of the Internet, your PC or the network you are connected to.)

You can try the "Tweak Tester" at the link below. It will suggest things that might possibly improve your connection speeds. http://www.dslreports.com/tweaks
