My printer has decided to no longer print. It is an all in 1 and can still copy but I one of the rollers isn't working so I have to force through paper. Scan function and fax seem to be ok too. If anyone could help me, knows of a place that could or let me know if it is even worth trying to fix I would greatly appreciate it. I need to have it up and running pretty quickly since I use it for school

Give us the printer manufacturer and model #. It helps in resolving "know" issues.

It may just be a broken rubber drive belt or a sticky drive wheel shaft. Both can be easily fixed by you if you take some care in the disassembly.

Open all the available doors and make sure you don't have a small piece of paper stuck inside. Break out the manual to find access door locations.

Sometimes using a thicker grade of paper (24#) is a temp fix. When the rubber wheels wear out they loose the grip on the paper. If that's the case a quick fix is taking a small sticky note paper and stick it to the wheel while rotating it and then remove it. Do it a couple of times with new sheets. This cleans the wheel and leaves a little sticky behind for grip.

Get back to us with that model # for more than "guesses" answers. If it's not a commercial model it is a throw away, if you have to pay to get it fixed. Repair on them is more than buying a new one. If you do buy a new one, don't look at the price of the printer, look at the price of the ink cartridges it takes!!!!!

Here's a good buy at the local Tiger Direct store on Capital Blvd. $50 after rebate. Black cartridge is $25 and the color is 3 individual cartridges for $13 each. The individual color array is great, because if the just the blue runs out your not buying the whole cartridge again with the other 2 colors that are not used.

There are no know manufacturer errors on that model for paper feed problems. Printers with a gravity paper feed of this type are prone to glazing on the pick up/paper advance wheels. Even worse if it's a smoke envioronment in your office.

Make sure the paper feed tab on the left side of the tray is slid against the paper. If the paper is bowing you wont have a good feed.

Have you checked for items jamming the feed yet? If you did not see anything, do this check. Disconnect all the plugs, put a piece of tape on the scan door to hold it closed, and hold the machine upside down in the air and gently shake it. Sometimes you'll find the strangest stuff that falls out, especially if you have kids. I found, what was left of, a pop tart in a cd burner about a month ago.

If the feed wheels are spinning but no grip, try cleaning the "feed" wheels with alcohol and a Qtip. Dont oversaturate it with alcohol, shake off the excess. Hold the feed button down to get the wheel turning and gently lay the Qtip on the wheels to clean them. Be carefull not to snag the qtip into the machine.

Depending on what you spent on the machine will determine if the cost to repair is economical. There is a shop off Hwy 64 at the loop, Carolina Copier 231-1140.

    Hope this helps
