Anyone know it's possible to recharge a battery outside of a laptop?

Long story short - I can't run the laptop off electricity (issues with the cord and it can't be replaced), so I have to run off the battery. The battery has now run down and it doesn't recharge anymore when the laptop is plugged in.

I'm using a different laptop now, but would like to get on the old one long enough to download a few files. Anyone know how I can recharge the battery?

The laptop is a Sony Vaio, if that helps.

    Thanks in advance!

Not sure if they make stand alone chargers for laptop batteries. But i would suggest checking out 'batteries plus" they may have a solution for you.

BTW what are you going to do with the sony vaio laptop when you are done?

you can easily get a replacement power adapter for most laptops through 3rd party vendors.

if it is the connection on the motherboard, that is a different story.

however, if you just want to recover the data you can remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer to get the information.

It's going back to the owner (I was borrowing it)
