Hi, All of a sudden, my computer lost the ability to play videos on YouTube. All I see is a big black square. Reboot does not help. Also, I use the FlipShare program, from my Flip! video camera, to upload to YouTube. Haven't been able to upload either. I can "see" YouTube videos embedded in Facebook, but they play like a slideshow, no motion. Soundtrack is fine. Any suggestions? Email randy@realityworkouts.com . I use YouTube and Facebook for business, so regaining the ability to upload is crucial for me.
What browser and version of it are you using? And have you tried it in a different browser and gotten the same results?
I'm using FireFox, not sure what version. I keep about 6-7 tabs open on a regular basis, most business related. Just tried to open IE, it would not load. Going to reboot and try again. When I run Flipshare video software, I often get "Windows Virtual Memory To Low" warnings popping up from the lower right corner of the screen.
Ok, rebooted, nothing changed in Firefox. Opened IE. Took a long time to open, then same problem as Firefox. Opened Google Chrome, videos play fine! I can manage w/ Chrome, but I really prefer Firefox. any ideas?
Hmmmm.....you say you see "Windows Virtual Memory To Low" a lot. What version of Windows are you running....XP, Vista, 7?
And, all of a sudden, YouTube vids are working in Firefox again. Both on FB and at YouTube. Vids are a little choppy, but not too bad. Go figure.
I have this issue once in a while with Firefox. It seems like the Firefox version gets out of sync with Java or Flash updates and things get funny. Try updating flash, Java, and Firefox and see if this helps. It is a shot in the dark, I know. The memory thing might be an issue as well.
AHA! I was wondering if it might be a YouTube problem. I have a regularly occurring similar problem with my WebMail. I hit "Refresh" for my Inbox, to get new mail, and it comes up w/ "Your Username or Password was not entered correctly". Sometimes it resolves in 3-5 minutes, sometimes 2-3 hrs.
1. With your memory problem you may want to "Disable Hardware Acceleration". You'll find the instructions in "Help" on your "Start" menu. 2. Use this link to see if your flash is working properly. If the video plays smoothly, it's good. http://www.youtube.com/swf_test.html 3. With the combination of occasional low memory, and, the intermittent way YouTube works and then doesn't work, and, your email password problem, you may want to do some research on "Netbots".
