I was wondering if anyone here uses bluetooth? I am trying to figure out if bluetooth is worth spending the extra money on for a laptop. The laptop that I am ordering has an option for a 802.11 a/b/g wireless card or 802.11 with bluetooth combined. The laptop will be used at home and mostly for a college student. I can't think of using bluetooth for anything except mouse, keyboard, or printer.

So for now do think it is just ok to use the Wifi connection and just buy a bluetooth usb adapter later if I see the need for it.

With a laptop I would say it depends on your pocketbook. Is it a large upgrade cost and how much will you use it? Secondly, I would make sure your bluetooth is "Ultrawideband (UWB)" compatable. This new technology will be out in 01/2007. More than likely the laptop your buying is not.

I think bluetooth is at it's infancy in progress. It's going to have some major changes in the next few years and I'm not buying it till it settles in on one form factor. It's like wifi routers, how long were "B" units out before they flopped to "G"?? Never buy todays technology today, it will change and get cheaper tomorrow.
