it seems like I get the message everytime I go to a new site. When I refresh its fine.. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Should I update or something
First we need to know what Operating System & Browser your using? I'll assume Windows XP and IE (at least 6.0) Your DNS IP configuration may be setup wrong? The server may not be translating the web page name to it's IP address. Type in http://216.92.56.121 to your browser, does the page come up without refresh? If it comes up this software is the easy DNS fix: http://www.download.com/PageFix/3000-2381-10386054.html?part=dl-PageFix&subj=dl The second problem may be a "winsock" error. Let me know what happens above first befor we go into that.
when I type in the first thing I still have to refresh to get the page to view... and yes I am using windows XP
Before we go father down the difficult road, whens the last time you deleted cookies, Temp Internet Files & history? If you haven't done that lately here's the steps: 1. Open Internet Explorer 2. Click on "Tools" (up top) 3. Click on "Internet Options" 4. Choose "Delete Cookies" click "OK" 5. Choose "Delete Files" check "Delete all offline files" click "OK" 6. Choose "Clear History" click "OK" Don't rush when you start #4 to 6. Wait for your cursor to go idle before taking the next step. You may have many many files being deleted.
Is there a way to selectively delete cookies? I never delete cookies, because I like that Amazon & Jigzone and all the rest of my favorite sites know who I am and I don't have to log in every time. Of course it would be simpler if I used the same user name and password all the time, at least I would know how to log in!
I also updated my explorer this morning just to be sure I wasnt missing something. I still have to refresh most my pages.. any clue thanks for your help
I've seen something similar when a dial-up connection is still listed as the DEFAULT, but the system is now connected to LAN. It's like the first attempt tries dial-up, sees that it is disconnected, and reports and error... but hitting REFRESH goes straight to the LAN. Under IE, click TOOLS--INTERNET OPTIONS. Then select the CONNECTIONS tab. Do you have any listings under "Dial-up and VPN"?
A slight possibility this might be a browser hijack which is routing all your requests to visit a webpage through 3rd party "spyware" DNS servers (so they can track your activity and route you where THEY want you to go.). Have you scanned your PC to make sure there is no spyware/malware? Give http://www.ewido.net a try for a free online scan.
