    Okay thrifty shoppers.....

I need to know the BEST second-hand, consignment, thrift (whatever you want to call them) stores for kids. Being at home gives me more time to bargain shop, and I thought we'd take a field trip today.

So lay it on me! Thanks!

We have found great deals in KID's Clothes at the Garner Ministries Thrift Store hidden in the far end of the Garner TV & Appliance store building. The store is only open till 1pm. The volunteers that sort the clothes are ultra picky so there is almost never any nasty junk to pick over. Last week they were haveing a 1/2 price sale on all clothes. We picked up a name brand/mall store winter coat for DS for next year = $2.00. At that price we can resale the coat at a consignment sale and still make a buck or two. The store is smaller than the Vets Thrift at the corner of Tryon & US70 but the turn over & re-stock is better.

    Of course, YMMW.

DH has been a thrifter (A thrift store shopper) for years. He finds great ultra high end items & Flea-Bay-ables. Finding megga deals is his hobby!

I am not the lucky expert he is but I do enjoy the huge savings...
Real World Example: This past summer we joined a pool and DS need a couple of swim suits. By early August DS had a drawer full of suits, I counted 14 that DH, Grandmoms or I had picked up for almost nothing. He is set for summer 2007. Let's go to the pool!

I've made many stops at the Baby's Closet on my way back from West View Elem. to do a little quick shopping :) The folks in there are always really nice. I've found some really cute little girls outfits, a baby swing, crib sheets, a bouncer & a baby gate. I stopped in this weekend and lots of their stuff was on sale for 50% - 75% off.

Okay, but what about consigning your old baby stuff? Has anyone ever done that locally and is it just as easy to put stuff in the classifieds?

I have done some consigning with the Garner MOM's club. They have 2 sales a year. (Spring & Fall) I have been happy with the sales. Stuff gets gone! and I get a CHECK! ;)

But - I am very careful with what I sell.
    No Junk,
No jeans with worn out knees,
    No stains.
I do not sell kid clothes that should have been RAGS.

So saying that - My stuff usually sells for the price I set, not the 1/2 price end of the day rate.

    Brand Names SALE.

You can really see how well higher end brands wear as opposed to Wally World brands.

    JennS...
There is a great place in Goldsboro, I cannot remember the name of it, I went with my sis in law and she goes ALL THE TIME...they have lots of clothes in great condition. If you know where the mall is in Goldsboro, it is right down from that on the right, directly beside MIchaels.
