Anybody here know anything about values of sports collectibles? Baseball cards, basketball cards, football cards, cereal boxes? Other collectibles - stamps, matchbooks? Where's a good place to find out what stuff like that is worth?
Just a shot in the dark.. but you might look on ebay for particular items and see, if there are any, what they are going for. I have a Snoopy lunch box from when I was little and found one in about the same condition as mine that went for about $7. ... just a thought
I know most book stores will have a section on collectables and there are books there that will help you figure such things out. I know there is a baseball card store in the shopping plaza where the burlington coat factory is out in Cary. Its on the far end with its own entrance. Down near the side where the old freedom ford use to be.
Obviously, the easiest way is to search for the same or simliar item that you have in your possession online. One thing that has really hurt collectibility and antiques is the Internet. With the advent of Ebay and Craig's List, items once thought to be rare are being discovered in greater numbers and therefore lowering the collectible value of SOME items. I've got a lot of baseball cards from the eighties and really don't even know where they're at...but I do have them. I only have one complete Topps set (1985) and I think its like around $75 now. The one card that really gives it much value at all is the 1984 Olympics baseball team cards with Mark McGuire's in there. Of course, selling to a private collector will net more return than a dealer wishing to sell.
