I have friend who has been having computer problems, so I agreed to take a look. Seems her computer had over 100 malware items. I have eliminated all but one with the tools that were installed on her computer. She also has Defender Pro installed but never registered it or activated it. This is not my first choice but since it is there, I thought I would look into it. I have heard good and bad about this product.

    Anyone have an opinion?

Since no one expressed an opinion, I through Defender Pro off my friends computer and replaced it with AVG anti-virus and a Zone Alarm firewall. A similar setup that I have on my own system.

Besides some bad opinions expressed on line, Defender Pro was trying to be all things to malware protection and I did not want my friend to have to put up with evaluations of everything that was being done on her computer whether internet related or not. I had that problem with ZoneAlarm Security Suite and the resulting evaluations slowed my system to a crawl.

Consider yourself very lucky. I have a laptop that I infrequently use. Ever so often I connect to the internet (56K modem) to update my anti virus. When I am on line my fire wall blocks numerous attempts to invade my computer from from the internet.

As I stated before, I am presently cleaning malware from a friends computer who had effectively had no firewall or anti virus because she did not activate the Defender pro software that was on her computer. I have removed over 300 viruses, worms and trojans. Presently there are still numerous root-kits that are hidden routines where these malware can hide on your computer so that the anti-virus routines have a hard time detecting them.

The fact that you have not experienced a problem does not mean you do not have problems. I present to you and anyone else that is interested an article dealing with infections on a computer.
