Can I safely delete all the files in my \WINDOWS\Temp folders?

They don't take up much space, but add time to my virus and ad/malware scanning.

Please note, I have two hard drives, C: and F: (an old drive I kept) F: has many files in Temp while C: does not have very many.

    Thanks!

yes but it is not going anyplace. All that is doing is removing the header info from the file. Nothing you delete is actually deleted. You need to invest in a cleaner that will do a deep cleaning. I myself use Cyber Scrubb. You can set the security levels. I personally tested it at work and it goes beyond the DoD standard for removing data. I tried to retrieve data with some tools the feds use and was not able to. So it is worth the money.

Deleting the files on the "F" drive won't hurt anything. Use the windows "disk cleanup" to delete the temp files on the "C" drive if your worried about what and what not to delete.

If you don't know how to get to disk cleaner:
    1. Click on START
    2. Hold over PROGRAMS
    3. Click on Accessories
    4. Click on System Tools
    5. Click on Disk Cleanup

It should show the "C" drive. If not make it "C". The calculating may take a little time. Then scroll down and make sure Temp Files is checked. You can check the other types too if you want a total cleanup.
