I copied all of my files to a DVD because I needed to restore my laptop to it's factory default state. Now it won't read the files on the DVD. The computer acknowledges the DVD, but it shows no files. In the properties, it says something like 3.1gb used, 1.1gb free (I guessing at the numbers).

I checked that the files were there after I copied them....what happened when I restored the system that now it won't read the files?

    Thanks in advance!

You can try right clicking on the dvd and going to properties. Take ownership of the dvd and see if it lets you. You may have not closed the dvd when you burnt the files.

How do I take ownership? I don't see that option.

You'll have to be more specific in the steps you took when you say, "copied all my files". Did you use a software like Roxio, or Nero ..... or .... Did you do a windows backup recovery disk thinking that would save your files?

Make sure you have your "view" setup in Windows Explorer to show all files and file extension. Default has this "off".

You may have created an iso image????
