Just wondered if anyone else has seen this what I presume is a new scam. I bid on an item on e-bay and my maximum bid came up $200 short from the winning bid. The next day, I get an e-mail saying that I was being given a "Second Choice" to buy the item at my high bid because the winning bidder wasn't able to complete the purchase, after communicating several time with the "seller" (who was using a free email @myway) I got a notice from "Ebay" with the option to pay. several things that sent up red flags for me, one was that I couldn't pay with paypal even though it was listed and the "seller" wanted me to send a western-union check directly to them. The original posting was from texas but the new "seller" was from UK. I did a little research online and found this is a common problem in UK. It seemed very legitimate because it had the item I had bid on and my high bid price in the e-mail and came thru the e-mail address I use for e-bay. I don't know how they got my e-mail address from e-bay but I am embarrassed/mad that I almost fell for this scam. I am very skeptical about ANY e-mail and almost got trapped. Just wanted to share, to warn anyone else ,
