I have always used firefox til last week. I switched to google chrome. Firefox got so slow. start up was slow, tabs were slow, and while opening tabs, the original screen froze up while the tab loaded. Opening multiple tabs was impossible. It didn't used to be like that. I read a lot of news and would click several tabs from the parent screen, then read and close as I liked.

Chrome behaves normally. Fast, open all the tabs I want while still scrolling the parent window. Switch between tabs with no wait.

I was running symantec anti virus but swtched to web root. I can't remember the name of the symantec product, but I kept having problems with it. When I went back to web root, it found 35 or so things symantec didn't.

Been using firefox for years with no problems. Any ideas?

Symantec has become increasing bloated over the years and, at times, causes more conflicts than it is worth. In particular, we see issues with Symantec and AVG causing e-mail send/receive problems with Outlook (as both insert themselves into the send/receive process and botch it up at times).

As for Webroot, we used it at one time by came to the conclusion that the main way it worked was to slow your PC down so much you just decided not to use it!

For the past 6 months we have used and recommended Avast! antivirus. It is much more lightweight on system resources and has done a good job of keeping PC's we service clean from malware infections.
