My McAfee subscription is due to expire next month. I can get a new 2-year subscription to 4 services - firewall, virus protection, privacy, and spam blocker - for $99.99. I don't really need the spam blocker, gmail does a great job of segregating spam, but if I delete that from the list the price goes up to 139.99! (I hate bundling!) Is there another firewall and virus protection option, equally good or better than McAfee, for less than $50.00 a year?
Thanks, Ken. I do have Windows XP, and I know there is supposed to be firewall protection built into it, but I've heard it is not very good. I will look into Zone Alarm & AVG.
I will suggest in addition to those products Ken suggested, that you also add Windows Defender (www.microsoft.com/defender). It's free and does a good job of scanning for spyware, malware, etc. It also has a good tool program that lets you control startup programs, see what's running (like in task manager), but it also let's you see what's connecting or trying to connect theu your networks also.
