I didn't even realize that Acer still produced Gateway branded computers.

Anyone have a gateway power cord I can borrow? I need to see if it will even come on before I chunk it in the trash can?

    TIA

I started using AMD in my personal machines back about 1997-98 or so and have not had anything since other than AMD for personal use.

As to my work computers. THey have all been intel up until I got my current speed demon of a system with an AMD processor clipping along at 3.4GHz.

Slowest thing I have in this pc now is the cheap a$$ MSI Radeon video card

I work with special communication protocols and access mainframe apps that hit my procs pretty heavy. I had one AMD and it fried. Been with Intel and Motorola ever since.

Desktop or laptop? Have you got a specific model number...if so, please post and we can probably help out with some additional info.

Just like that one ^^ except no w/l keyboard, no mouse and no power cord.
I got it free, so right now I just need a power cord to see if it even works.

Here's the power supply you need:

    As for the PC itself....

I'm not a fan of Gateway (because of lame tech support) or "all in one" computers (not as easy to work on), but it was free, so that doesn't matter.

If you are doing standard PC stuff, like documents, spreadsheets, surfing the web, etc., it has more than enough processing power and memory to do the job. AMD or Intel processor....you won't be able to tell the difference for daily computing chores..

I'd take a free one any day!

Cool! thanks so much. I ust ordered it so hopefully it'll work. If not I guess I"ll send the cord back and use the computer for target practice!
