Thanks Michelle. I started running my own little coupon request experiement last week. So far I have contacted 30 companies and 8 have responded that they are sending coupons. 3 have said they cannot send any coupons (but sometimes those companies do end up sending them, so I will wait and see) and I am still waiting to hear from the rest. It is pretty quick and easy to send an e-mail and it doesn't cost anything but my time. I try to shoot off 4-5 e-mails a night once the kids go to sleep. Once I have a more complete list of who did and did not send coupons, I will be happy to post it. Sue Stock, the N & O reporter who wrote the article is a talented couponer herself. Wouldn't that have been a great article to write?? Get paid to request coupons!
Hey frugalemom. I liked that idea of writing little letters to companies. Years ago when my mom would be driving my grandmother and aunt's to doctor's appointments and her car broke down, I wrote a long letter to Ford since that was all she drove her whole life and explained how dedicated she was to Ford and suppling transportation to my relatives, they sent her a pen and an appointment book. Hey, it was worth a shot for that new car for her.
