I want my son to have a cell phone for emergencies. He rides his bike alot etc... I have been letting him use my cell phone, but I use it for work and it is starting to cause conflicts.

What are the best plans out there for this? Pay as you go? He only needs it to either call me, or for me to call him. (for now anyway.)

As I am typing this I am thinking I could 'add' him to my plan, (cingular) maybe I will call them and ask.

    Thanks.

We added a line for $10.00 a month.

Don't do the pay as you go thing...RIP OFF!!!!! All these little fees in between the lines add up!

Also be careful of some of the "pay as you go" phones because some don't work outside of major metropolitan areas. I have heard that about 1 new big name pay as you go phone company. At least if you add him to your AT&T/Cingular account you know the phone will work where you live.

Thanks... I looked into adding a line, but I have to do a two year contract and I am not sure I want to stay where I am for two more years. My contract is almost up.... hmmm

We tried those walkie talkie things yesterday and they worked ok, but I had to keep running outside in the front yard to hear what he was trying to say. That will get old!!

Mini Me got a Nextel on my line first. Then I tired very quickly of paying
$40+ a month for her phone.

I bought a Virgin Mobile prepaid phone for her, and since we've had it, 3-4 months, I've put a total of $40 on it. Signal is fine around here, it did get spotty towards White Lake though.
