When you freeze milk does it taste funny after you thaw it? And thank you for the info time to go to Lowes.

No, doesn't change the taste at all. You may have to mix it up, because the cream will separate, but thats probably not as much of an issue if you don't get whole milk like us. You might also want to pour a bit off before you freeze it. I've only had one bust during freezing, and I froze several without pouring any out. My DS is very skinny, so I have kept him on whole milk. Plus skim tastes watery to me. Must be from having grown up with the real stuff from my Grandmother's dairy farm. 8) I wish you could by raw milk around here somewhere. Nothing like it! Kroger sells some in a glass bottle that's darned close!

If any of you are members of BJ's, they have milk priced at $3.09 always, no sale. I know we also got it from Sam's last month for I think $2.99. These are regular prices so you can go any time. Just thought I'd let you know in case you didn't. Does anyone know if Lowes still reduces the milk prices closer to expiration? Just wondering. For us, doesn't matter when it expires as we drink it the same day and it's gone. Let m eknow if anyone knows about reduced milk prices for close to expired items. Thanks.

That's all true Abdulina, but I rarely get to Sam's or BJ's. I try to stay out of them if at all possible, as those are the $100 stores, you know the ones where you go in for one thing and come out with $100 worth of stuff!! :jester: I live and work here in Clayton, so I am thrilled Lowe's has got it on sale, gas prices being what they are. But that's great if anyone else is driving by either of those places. Love me some Sam's Club!!

I've never cooked a Boston Butt, whats the best way??

I can assume low temp and long time, but do I need a rub or marinade, season it... I'm lost with a butt!

Tassy, I think you are looking for the jeans thread!

Yes, low and slow is the only way to cook a butt! I use a dry rub mixture and drop her in the oven for a good seven hours.

yes, long and slow. and we rub too. but we cook our outdoors on the charcoal grill, just like cooking a pig, 4-5 hours for the butt, super duper slow. last couple of hours brush with a vinegar based sauce (Uncle Yammys is our favorite). Super yummy.
