I still can't get out of the grocery store for under $50. That's with no beer and no cigs! :?

Unless triples come soon, i refuse to set foot inside a grocery store again for a month (j/k you know i will have to). But i am like Harley, i went to the store and even after saving $175 in coupons i still spent $320:shock: Granted it was after not shopping for a month and i have company coming in for 10 days but still - two full carts in my little car was laughable.

Has anyone here shopped at Aldi's in Fuquay? I went this weekend and was amazed at the savings. It was worth the extra mileage to go and stock up.

I get good deals there as well...especially fresh mushrooms and yellow/red bell peppers! Milk and eggs are also a good deal!

I used to shop there all the time when I stayed at home with the little one. Their meat was actually very good and the $1.99 pizzas were my FAVORITE!

My Good Deal of the week:

Craig's List - New (to us) GE Cook Top! $50.00, black glass smooth top, down draft, all works a-OK, to replace our 1961 GE Cook top which was a lovely 1961 brown!

Yes, $50.00 cash for a $900++ cook top that is 4 years old. DH installed it in about 2 hours. Yippiiiee!! It works great & made the rest of the kitchem look about 25 years newer!

We replaced the brown oven last year for FREE, the brown frig & dishwasher 2 years ago at a deal too.

Now, I need to get the new (to us) sink installed and toss the last bit of the BROWN kitchen. The brown will be all GONE & so-o-o-o new looking on a micro budget!

I buy very little red meat...their corn beef was excellent and their chicken has been very good. Their frozen fish filets are great and you can't beat the price.

I was not fond of their brand of coffee and stay away from their zip lock bags...unless you want to use your teeth to try and open them. Other than those 2 products, I can't say anything bad. It's well worth the trip and it's just me I'm buying for...It would be an awesome savings for a family.

I absolutely love Aldi!! Their meat has improved tremendously. As a matter of fact, they just started carrying fresh meats, and they are really good. I spend about $130 per month for the 4 of us. Of course, that's plus, the trips to the gas station for $2.99 milk, and fresh bread at Food Lion. But, for the most part, my total for the month is usually about $175 per month for 4 of us. I buy 10 boxes of cereal at one trip to Aldi, and that gets us through.

That awesome! We bought an $800 one, had a little, uh, accident... then paid almost $600 for a new top. TOP ONLY! You got a great deal! If we ever replace ours I'm saving the old one for parts!

I thought it was PINK!! My appliances were pink and my kitchen had green and yellow carpet!!! I finally just got rid of all the pink a few years ago!

I believe that was the mid 70's, that was the color of the leisure suit my mom bought me!

Here's a blue one on display in the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn MI. Oh, sweet memories!

And quoting Van Hardin, founder of the [Annual Leisure Suit Convention]. "When you wear a leisure suit you turn into a completely different person. You don't have the tie to inhibit you. You can eat food, and if you spill, it slides right off."

GE Colors : A Time Line
The lovely Avcado green then the Harvest Gold were a tiny bit later, mid 1960-1970's. The "Barbie Doll" Pink & Turquise (sp?) were before the toned down Brown of 1961.

My Mom swares it was OH SO IN Style then... riiight...sure.

I have also seen RED GE Appliances, Fire Engine RED... no idea why or when on that one.
