I use RR cable access to the Internet, and have been satisfied with the service but it costs me $44.95/mo. I got an insert in my phone bill for Sprint high-speed Internet for $24.95/mo for as long as I have their service. Modem is free and activation fee is rebated. There is a $99 termination fee if canceled before one year. Insert doesn't say, but I'm assuming this is a DSL connection. Does anyone have this Sprint service? Would you recommend it?
If your use to the speed you have on RR, you won't be happy with the Sprint DSL $24.95 plan. What they don't tell you is they sell 4 speeds, and that one is the lowest speed. Sprint has four speed options but all may not be available in your area. 1.5M is the fastest where I am. Up to 256k download/128k upload Up to 1.5M download/384k upload Up to 3.0M download/512k upload Up to 5.0M download/640k upload If your not sure what that means: "download" means from the internet to your PC and "upload" means from your PC to the internet. If you call sprint they do have a good deal on complete servive. It includes unlimited long distance, your basic phone charge, and 1.5M DSL for $80. I just switched to that a month ago. It also has the 1 year contract. If 3.0M is available it's only $5 more. The reason I use DSL, and not Cable, is for security reasons. Many experts in here disagree with me on the cable security issue so you may want to look into that yourself. Run a speed test on your cable here: http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/ and then check it against my 1.5Megabit connection test listed below. Communications = 2.4 megabits per second Storage = 289.7 kilobytes per second 1MB file download = 3.5 seconds Subjective rating = Great Date & time Sunday, April 30, 8:26AM* Test type IDT4 Free Connection type ADSL Region North Carolina Data size 1024KB Now this is a slack time (Sunday morning) on usage and the 2.4M speed is not a constant for me. I average around 1.42M. Down & 436k Up which is fine for me. If you have "The need for speed" then cable is the answer. I'm use to the 2400b modem days when a download meant all day.  Hope this helps DDR Dan
Wow! I guess I'm spoiled - this speed will be hard to give up. (And I do remember the 2400 baud days - I remember being thrilled when I got a 56k modem ) My results: Communications 5.2 megabits per second Storage 640 kilobytes per second 1MB file download 1.6 seconds Subjective rating Awesome Date & time Sunday, April 30, 10:27AM* Test type IDT4 Free Connection type Cable Region North Carolina Data size 1024KB Thanks for the great post DDR Dan.

I'm not very technical, so not sure what would make my PC so fast. I have a Dell Dimension 4700 with Windows XP HomeEd V2002 SP2, Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, 504 MB RAM. I use Firefox for my browser. I do have two hard drives, if that makes any difference. Romworks tuned my PC a few months ago - my hard drive was failing - so I have a new one. Kept the old one, so that's why I have two now.
Okay I have the same thing (24.95 for Interenet). The brochure says it "applies to up to 1.5Mbps). So does that mean the conection can be anywhere from the lowest 256 to 1.5? I also just got another brochure from Spint, this one is for everything for $64. I am assuming this one is the same thing just incorporates the $24.95 into the $64.
I have Sprint DSL and am lickety split all over the net! I have no idea how much it costs me.
