Good luck to everyone involved!!! This is the first time in probably 6 years that I haven't been involved at all, no houses to cheer for, not even going to the ceremony tonight...Kind of sad, but hoping we'll be entered in the Spring one next year!!

I'm dissappointed. The first 2 houses I looked at in Broadmoor West are the same houses that were offered for the parade for the last 2 years and haven't sold YET? I wonder why. Is there anything NEW for this year or is everything from yesteryear? The 2 in Broadmoor WEst were very dirty with cobwebs all over the house outside and the decks are very weathered. What gives?

I am sorry you were disapointed, please keep in mind the HBA & local builders are doing their best to continue the tradition of the Parade of Homes, it has been a tough year for many but they are trying.
(BTW I know both the homes in BW had the porches blown off this afternoon to rid cobwebs)
Thanks for coming out and the next Parade of Homes will be in the Spring, hopefully the builders will continue to impress!

We looked at serveral homes in Clayton this afternoon. It was a nice day to get out, but did not really care for most of the homes we looked at. Several of the homes we looked at were in the mid 400's, no way I would buy one of those homes, 3 bedrooms some of them and the layout was just bad. I mean our current house is only 1800 sq feet and our master bedroom is bigger than most of these 400,000 homes. What the deal? I have several friends that just purchased new homes in fuquay varina in the mid 400's and there homes are huge...

Some of these same homes were built last year and we looked at them are still for sale. Some did have good deals though price reduction 30 to 50k, though I still would not buy one. I think when we are ready to buy next year it going to take forever or we will have to build custom home.

we go to the parade every year and this year is disappointing. first house we saw wasnt even ready! and its out of the way,why did they post parade signs for a house not done and overgrown with weeds? also no directions on leaflet(not book), just squiggly lines near main roads. how are we supposed to find it? last year there were directions.some signs you couldnt see cause they put them behind the overgrown grass and couldnt see which way arrow points, and not enough of them. the houses we did see were very nice though!

housing/new construction is in a "depression" state right now. And from ya'lls descriptions with the cobwebs and tall grass/weeds, it feels like it! Reminds me of how it felt watching some of those old Waltons episodes growing up.

Market will be down at this level for almost another year. But supply will run out in about 8 months - but no one is seriously preparing to take advantage of it around here. So might see a small price spike due to short supply early next year. Although there are 2 new subdivisions planned they won't be built out in time. Look for positive gains late next summer into fall.

I found the home I want, now I just have to get the builder to come down on the price about $150,000.

    As Harsh As It Sounds:
If you have been searching the parade each year to buy a new home and you are asking how you are supposed to find the parade homes for sale through the weeds this year, then I'd suggest that you hire a realtor! They will direct you or even drive you to the homes! Gosh, I know some realtors that would bring their own weedeaters to help you find a parade to buy!

If most attendees are just "looking for ideas" instead of looking to purchase a home, then there is no wonder why the homes are still sitting there gathering cobwebs. If you are not in the midst of purchasing a home, please don't complain about the homes that are available in our market area... Watch some home shows on TV instead of "raining on the parade".

Also (adding this for Robbie)...the event is FREE and sponsored by the Home Builders Association to help sell homes!!! I might respect your remarks IF you had not received what you PAID for....

I commend those builders who paid a hefty entry fee to be a part of the parade... especially since the poor economy kept many wondering if there would even be a parade this year, even though I do wish that some of the builders would have taken the time and gathered enough pride to "ready" their homes prior to inviting the "public judges" to view them.

The homes may not have produced the "wow" factor for you, but I guess that just the fact that the parade was held in this economy is a "Wow" in itself.

    Better days ahead for everyone!!!
