key codes

  1. Any thoughts or suggestions.

I ended up rebuilding my PC. I was then able to do the partition magic and get the sizes i need on my primary hard drive. I am going through and re adding my software. I went to add the MS Plus! Digital pack to my xp home. It requested the key code. I could not find where I had it. I did go and use Belarc advisory to print the stuff out before i rebuilt it. But on the line where i would get the key code for the plus pack it was one set of numbers missing. I tried other key codes and of course they won't work. I would think that somewhere on the cd i should be able to find it but doing a quick search I could not.

    Any thoughts?

Did you change out the original case? I know most PC's that are purchased from a retailer have the key code stamped on a sticker on the case somewhere. But I'm guessing since your rebuilding it, you don't have that original sticker?

The entire number was in the registry with the original load of the O/S. Did you format the drive with the original O/S load? If you did, it's not easy to find. So in all good sense, it's gone.

If you registered the software just contact Microsoft. You can always call microsoft, you may have also unknowingly registered the software. It's about $30 (used) right now to replace.

  4. It was an aftermarket piece of software.....MS Plus digital pack.
