I am hoping someone can clue me in as to what may have happened here. When I turned on my desktop today the was a "keyboard failure" message. Didn't really give it much thought until I couldn't type anything. Any ideas how to fix it? It's a wireless keyboard and I changed the batteries.

It wouldn't be a big deal since I use my laptop for everything, but of course I have month end stuff that I need to tend to and thats all on my desktop.

    Thanks,
    e*

Being the anti geek I learned that turning the system off for at least a minute and rebooting solves the problem about 50% of the time. If you haven't already I would do this after replacing the batteries. :?

    Thanks

Have you re-oriented the keyboard. Push the button on the bottom and hold it in for 5 to 10 seconds in line with the reciever?

I wasn't going to ask you this but my experience compels me to do so. Did you check the plug from the receiver to the PC? And, if it's not USB did you check the battery in the receiver?

I just tried both suggestions, still no luck. The receiver is a USB, and I didnt even know there was a button on the side of the keyboard. Thanks for the suggestions. I really don't understand. One minute it was fine and the next, nothin.

Ahhhhhh yes, we are the "throw away" society. It's more than likely a simple BIOS or driver problem. Go to the manufacturers web site. 9 times out of 10, you're not the first person with the problem.

Cool gaming board! Wash it with distilled water before you put it back together. You can buy circuit board wash if you want but I found the water does the same job just longer dry time.

The sugar from the DP will eventually crystalize and become a conductor between circuits if you dont. After washing leave it dry for at least 2 days. DO NOT USE A HAIR DRYER OR ANY HEAT TO DRY IT!!!! That will fuse circuits.

Make sure someone has not put tape over the IR part of the board. Sometimes people do that to screw with you. I do it to people all the time. Especially the mice that are wireless.
