Ok. I'm looking at laptops and one of them is a Dell, which I have to order. Is it worth the money to go from a WXGA screen to a WSXGA screen.
Thats hard to answer not knowing what the screen sizes are and what video card is being used? But for a general answer ... If the laptop has a 15" screen, the resolution difference between the WXGA and the WSXGA will only be an added benifit if your going to use applications with video or photo formats. The push from 1280 to 1400 will leave you squinting for icons and print, if you don't use custom settings on all applications when using a 15" screen or under. Both will view best in the 16:9 ratio and the WSXGA will give you great DVD performance. In reviewing your screen options apply what the difference is in the video cards installed in the units. If the WXGA has a better video card then the WSXGA unit, it may be a null difference and not worth the added cost. In plain english, it's a factor of combined products as to wether the performance is a viable cost expenditiure. Hope this helped. DDR dan PS: Go with a SONY , much better systems & ... note, this LCD screen will look like crap if you change down from the designated resolution. These screens are not like your home CRT screen. This is a fixed pixel technology.
I'm getting this laptop for my wife because she needs one for school so no gaming will be done. I know that I want no less that a 15" screen. I have been looking around and the Dell is what I can use my employer discount with. It was this or Gateway. I haven't looked at Sony much, really no reason why I hadn't looked at them. I am assuming the best place to buy a Sony is retailers like Best Buy?
