I'm too busy (or is it too lazy? ) to try and figure this out for myself.

My hubby is thinking about giving his 80+ Dad his laptop. His Dad is not comfortable using the Laptop's keyboard as it is very small. I know it's possible to attach a mouse to a laptop, however, is it possible to attach another keyboard to the laptop just like you would a mouse? Will the laptop automatically respond to the attached keyboard or do we have to do some type of configuring?

The laptop's OS is Windows XP. It has a couple USB ports available.

Yeah, with a USB keyboard and mouse the laptop should pick them up just fine and be fully functional almost imediately.

You may want to think about a desktop monitor for that also. When using an external keyboard the laptop has to be positioned to the side or a keyboard distance to the front. Based on the keyboard you choose and the Dads eyesight this may be a problem with the LCD visabillity.

Tiger Direct has a Logitech wireless keyboard & mouse combo thats only $30. This will have only one USB plug for both making the connection simple for him. It will also make location easier.
