I have a teenager and it has been recommended that I purchase some logging software. Does anyone have any that the recommend? I have been unable to locate any at Best Buy or any of the office stores.

Here is a software that I have installed on a clients machine that seems to work pretty well. Here is the link from the site. You can purchase it there and then download it right to your PC from their site.

Now there are a few things I would recommend about monitoring software.

    1. If your system is already performing slow I wouldn't put a monitoring software on because it is going to chew up memory and processor speed.

    2. Assuming that you dont want your teenager or co-worker knowing they are going to be monitored there is an option in most softwares that will shut down spyware and ad-ware programs. The reason for this is because those programs were designed to watch your PC for things that are trying to access the internet, like Norton security you will get a pop up saying that ______ software is trying to write to your disk or whatever. Well if you get that message your cover is blown. But if you turn off your blockers then you might be subject to get infected.

Either way you have a risk-reward option. What is best for you.

The other thing is that monitoring softwares just monitor they don't prevent anything. SO if whoever goes to a porn site and downloads whatever it will record the site and what was downloaded but wont prevent whatever virus or spyware that is attached to it.

And lastly, just as there are software to track web browsing, there are programs that erase tracking. If your teenager gets suspicious that they are being monitorered and they have a little PC knowledge they could easily download a free trial trackign eraser program. With both of them programs running you run into the risk of your system becoming unstable.

Hope I haven't worried you to much!!! LOL

If you are not in a corporate enviroment perhaps the best monitoring device you can get is yourself.

Limit PC use. Have it turned off at a certain time.

Occassionally check on the teen to make sure they are using the PC for what they said they were using it for.

Is the PC in their bedroom? If trust is going to be an issue perhaps take the PC out of their room and move it to a more high traffic area to where they would be to afraid of getting caught to do something they aren't suppose to.

If I can be of any help let me know.
