    Help, please!
Have an old computer, ME edition, cannot scan disk, repeated tries but response is always, "defrag" which is not possible! What to do with the old girl??? Thanks

Try restarting it in Safe mode (pressing F8 after you reboot the PC and just prior to the initial Windows logo screen appearing should give you that option). Once in Safe mode, try running defrag - you may find that it can complete successfully. Good luck!

I am still searching for an old tip on Windows ME. Windows ME had a major flaw in that if you have System Restore turned on, it set restore points, but it never deleted any of the old ones. Chances are your drive is so full the defrag is having a hard time writing any data forward for moving. I know the easy way is to turn iff system restore and deleting the _restore folder, but given what you say about not being too comfortable with the "technical" stuff, I'm not going to tell you to do it. I will try and find the tip and pass it on to you, then you can decide from there.
