Olympic judging

I am an Olympics addict - we scream at the television nightly!

 

I think the gymnastics gold for the Chinese lady, who had (obvious to me, but I'm not an Olympic judge) visual mistakes in her routine, yet was awarded the gold, over the American with a tie score, and whose routine I perceived to be better.

And, how in the world did jumping on a trampoline become an olympic sport..or badminton??? yeah, convince me of the tough training regimens for those, versus heptathalon or decathalon.

 

We just love the Olympics and keep up with most of the sports but lean towards swimming, diving and open water (open water is new this year). Our family agrees with the OP that the judges made a bad call on that one and several others. When humans are the deciding factor mistakes will take place.

I miss the old style scoring of "10" being perfect.
YES, I do like the difficulity factor bit of the scoring now but still I miss seeing all 10's for someone.

BTW-
WOWOWOOWWW to the woman that won the Marathon- by like 2 days (J/K)! She whoooped up on everyone from what, mile 12, on.... she was light years out front.

Last night it appeared that some of the gymnastics judges were working the diving competition. :x

I caught doubles table tennis at one point Hatt. The Chinese players had been in seclusion for the entire year prior to the Olympics!

 

WOOT WOOT to Shawn Johnson for her balance beam gold! And to Jonathon Horton for his silver on the high bar too!


Did anyone else see the Chinese girl that fell off the balance beam last night. She looked scared to death... when all the media is gone, they'll probably beat her for that. :neutral:

 

I did see that fall off the beam. Looked kinda physically painful too. I tell ya, I can't breathe when those girls are on that beam!
