I need some advice on a printer problem I'm having. It's an HPLJ 4100TN and it's printing very light. I've changed the toner cartridge and cleaned the transfer roller but that doesn't help. I'm thinking it might be a dirty laser assembly. Anyway, I got this printer for free so I don't want to sink a lot of money into it. To the best of my knowledge laser assemblies aren't cleaned, just replaced. Anyone have any ideas?
You may have already checked this, but the HP's usually have a density setting as part of their onboard setup. I've seen ones that were printing lightly before, and went into the printer setup and increased the density setting and it started working fine. Also, some models have a "toner saver" mode, that you can turn off (also makes for lighter print.)
I saw Econo Mode, which is the same thing as Toner Saver I think. Anyway, I've done both and it hasn't helped. Thank you though. If you have any other ideas please let me know...
This may be a long shot and one of them dumb things that might get overlooked but..... Have you checked the printing preferences and made sure that you arent printing on draft ? If so change it to text or text with pictures and that will give you a darker print out also.
