Is there a way to limited access to Quick Books Pro?

Meaning is there a way for someone to log time on invoices but not have access to other employee's payroll information?

    Yes

We used to do something very similar. It depends on the version. I have not used QB's in 5 years, but I am sure you can still do it.

There is but I don't know how. I'm the only one who has access to mine! Well, and my CPA

It depends on what version your using? A quick way to your answer is to click on help from any page in Quickbooks. Type in "setting passwords". It should give you quite a few results with the answer you need. Here's the instruction from the 2004 version:
To assign a password to a new user

    1. From the Company menu, choose Set Up Users.
    2. Click Add User.
    3. In the User Name field, enter the person who is to receive the password.
    4. Enter the password: first in the Password field and then in the Confirm Password field.
    5. Click Next.
    6. To set up access permissions for this person, follow the instructions that appear.

Ok, this is probably a dumb questions but it relates to Quickbooks too. i have set up a guest acct for someone on Windows to use just for Word, etc. Is there anyway to prevent the QB icon from showing up on the screen just on that user?

If they're not PC savy you can just go to the directory "C:\documents and settings\(*user name you want to restrict*)\desktop" and remove (right click and delete) the icons you don't want them to use. If they're savy they can always access the program thru explorer as you did to remove it.

Ken's right, I guess I'm always trying for the easiest way to skin that cat. You get that way after spending hours and hours on the phone trying to explain the right way to people who are less than PC literate.
