So, I finally decided to make the switch to broadband (currently on dialup). I found a 6 month promotional deal with RR and signed up, got the install confirmation email, replied with 1st + 2nd choice install dates. Now today I get an email saying that a "site survey" has been done (on the Sunday after Thanksgiving??? yeah, right...) and that they are unable to provide RR service to my address. Funny that they couldn't tell me this before, based on my address info. Also seems funny that my neighbor- 100 yards away has had TW cable for several years. Now, I don't know anyone right around here who has RR, but this sounds wrong to me. I called their customer service line, and the guy just repeated what was said in the email- not much help. I called the phone number that was given to me to schedule installation- and they have promised to check into it and get back to me. Anyone else in the Cleveland School area run into this?? I am off Raleigh Rd, not far from West Johnston HS. In Johnston Co, Clayton mailing address. Thanks!!
Depending on your physical address your neighbors could have it and you cat get it. Where I am at I cant but if I walked 40 yards down to the next subdivision they can. If you are in a bellsouth phone service area I know of a company that you can get DSL service from. If interested PM me.
Thanks for the quick reply Romworks. We are in a Sprint phone service area- I have tried to find out about their DSL as well, but it seems to be about the same price as RR, and alot slower connection. I'm not giving up yet!!!
Sorry wasnt able to give you any more information. Hope it works out for you. If you need any help let me know.
Re: RR Time Warner says my address is "not serviceable& Rig~ They've laid all the cable there, all the way up to 210. Are you past 210? We had the same problem, and it took a few calls until I got someone knowledgeable. Don't give up on it, tho. The service *should* be available if you're before 210. Frogger
Woohoo!! Persistence pays off.... So, I was feeling a bit dejected- but as I was driving past the CVS at 40/42 I saw a Time Warner truck sitting in the parking lot. The young lady was sitting in her truck doing some paperwork, I asked her if she knew about this area, she said yes. She said she would drive by my house sometime to check it out and see if it was serviceable, and if not- why. About 15 minutes later, my wife called and said a nice lady from TW cable was at the house!!! She said it looked like it should be no problem and she would re-submit the work order. About 2 weeks went by, and then 2 guys showed up to "drop" the cable from the box across the road to the house. They managed to cut the phone line (GRRRR) but the guy quickly repaired it AND called Sprint to tell them to come fix it permanently. Seems they asked the utility locater service to come out and mark all the lines, but no one ever did- so he was not responsible. Anyway, about 2-3 days later, a TW contractor (Prince telecom) shows up to do the final install. He was really nice and did a great job. SO, we are now on RR Broadband. $29.95 a month for the first 6 months, then $44.95 after that. I have used RR before on friends PC's, and it is a WHOLE lot better than dialup. Guess I'll just have to sell some more crap, err- stuff, on EBay to pay the extra $$$ each month!! RIg.
