Am curious if anyone would know where to inexpensively obtain an Ethernet (10/100 Mbps) capable NAS enclosure for a serial ATA hard drive? I'm looking for a stand alone unit to connect directly to a LAN.

I've seen some that offer a USB capability, but doing so would require an additional piece of networking hardware.

RAID / array solutions are a bit pricy.

    Thanks!

Most of those enclosure types connect to a computer via a USB or serial ATA port. My goal is to connect the enclosure directly to a LAN via a RJ-45 port, by-passing a computer altogether if at all possible.

    Hi Ken,

I've seen those, but they're mostly for IDE HDDs and/or include the IDE HDD. I am looking for an empty SATA NAS enclosure (with a RJ-45 interface) to add a SATA HDD, ideally for less than $100.00. IDE NAS units with the RJ-45 interface are readily available. Now, I have come across SATA HDD enclosures on the sites your provided, but so far I have not located one with an RJ-45 interface. If you can provide a specific link, then I would be more than appreciative to review the information therein. Thanks again!
