    Help?

Lately when I turn on the computer - the normal stuff happens:
    -power on
-black screen with a bunch of info (dos?)
-windows blue start up screen (with the bar that shows it's loading

Then: it powers down like it's going into hibernate, except I can't get it to come back on.

I have to shut the power off completely (I know it's a no-no) turn it back on and it asks how to turn it on (safe mode, etc) I've done it so many times now that I can't remember which option I chose to do it right :?

It started when DH was using LimeWire. He (says) he finished, closed it then put it into hibernation. But when I (woke it up?) it said LimeWire had a problem due to my firewall blah blah blah.

There wasn't a problem until I tried to start it up the next day.
I don't think it's LimeWire because that's all we ever used on either computer and never had a problem before.

Any ideas? (and please use small words

Using the "X" to close the program does not remove it from running applications. Limewire does not completely exit the applications list if you just close it out. Limewire maintains an open connection to the internet so other users can take songs from your PC. To break the connection you must either use the command "File" then "Disconnect", or, you can close the program and then exit the icon from your system tray items by right clicking and choosing "exit".

When you enter hibernation your OS is suspending Limewires connection because it is turning off your NIC card, when it wakes up, Limewire has to request a new connection. You will continue to get the firewall alert when coming out of hibernation untill you list the HTML engine request that limewire wants in your "accepted" list. This list is in your firewall software.
Anytime you get a firewall stop with Limewire check the "Always Accept" block and future attempts will not show.

Another method to resolve the problem is to go to power schemes and remove the "turn off" for the NIC card. This will only work if the general "turn off" is modified also.

I always disconnect from limewire -but DH forgets.

Also, my downloaded files aren't shared for uploading.

I had a virus one time that changed something in my system start-up and the computer did the same thing. I booted from disk and changed my setup to factory default and it fixed it. Was able to run virus scan afterwards and find the file.
