streaming video crashes

    just reformatted and installed xp. dual processor, 4 gig ram, hi end audio, gforce 9800 gtx video. streaming video causes blue screen of death. You tube shuts down in less than a minute. wral small screen vids last 1 - 1.5 mins. installed latest drivers. any ideas??? also, now running symantec end point and windows firewall which I wasn't before.

    After you reloaded XP did you do all the Windows updates? It takes about 90 minutes to do the updates correctly. Even after it updates you have to keep going back for updates, till it gives you "0" updates available.

    If you are completely up to date:

    Run a registry cleaner.

    Audio is a typical culprit in streaming faults. Delete the audio driver in device manager and reboot to get windows to reload it.

    Uninstall your flash & java player software with 'remove programs'. Then go to adobe and java for downloads.

    thanks ddran. yes, everything is up to date. I do think audio is the culprit. when I get the BSD, a bit of the audio continues to loop. BTW, i'm the guy who gave the two hard drives to unlock my mp3s. I finally got fed up with vista and switched back.
