    Folks,
For a writing class we'll offer next year, we anticipate the need for 6 - 8 functional laptops. Must be in functional condition. Needs minimal programming, functional OS, and USB capability. We envision having a latop station for each student so they can do their "writing" on it, store via USB jump drive, and alos be able to network print.

    Suggestions?

    thanks in advance...

Try the bulk sales companies like this one.

Also, start writting letters to major corporations, asking for the units they sell to these bulk distributors for pennies on the dollar. Typically they would rather give them to you. Your a better deduction. Always ask for more than you need, that way you'll have parts for fixing!!!

If you do get lucky with a donation and you need help conditioning them, send me a PM. I'll donate some time.

Thanks for the offer. It's a project that C6 and I are trying to get off the ground, offering a writer's workshop for those kids who want to do well on their EOG's..We're not going to duplicate Sylvan/Kaplan, as we will keep students to max of ten...Not for remedial help, and not for parents who want their non writer to "get it"..as you can see, we're still working the idea and plan...

thanks for the suggestions. As we not a non profit, I doubt the tax idea would be of impact. And certainly, there are deserving charities that could use the product.

H6 tons of companies are right now replacing hardware. I know every week we have pallet after pallet of Laptops leaving. Might want to check with area businesses. Before they get to a money grubbing company wanting you to pay 3 to 400 for a laptop that was given away to them. Also check the state surplus website. Sometimes you can buy them dirt cheap by bid!

    Thanks Server..
All we need is a word processing program capability. And, with the prevalence of Windows systems, I have the software for them. The reason we're looking at laptops or notebooks is that we anticipate student's taking them on site where they might be working on their writing, i.e. to various museums, etc.
