Am getting fed up with my ISP and am thinkin about changing to RR... I have a question first... Can anyone tell me if it is possible to network the home computers with RR (wireless) without having to pay them to do it? I have all the equipment, as I am wirelessly networked now. Thanks - Traveler
I've got RoadRunner networked. I didn't pay them to do it. Three computers, the TiVo and wireless going. Guy that came installed the RoadRunner didn't say anything about me having it networked. He doesn't care he's a contractor!
Also, Vonage, 4 computers and a printer bank on RR going wireless (my wife is the Geek (if your reading this dear, you know I meant that in the nicest way possible)).
OK, got my ISP switched to RR and think (thought) I had figured out my wireless network b/c all was working…(yipee!!) ….. but there seems to be a problem HOUSTON! What I have done: 1) changed ISP’s 2) changed hosting company 3) roadrunnder outbound – hosting company inbound 4) reset outlook email settings - checked and re-checked 5) changed dns’s on my domain to new hosting company Pretty straight forward…… and all was working: My networking set-up 1) roadrunner cable into rr router 2) rr router to linksys wireless Per my hosting company have alternate access to mail.domainname.com for online acess. All has worked fine during the day (all day) then all of a sudden yesterday and today around 5P I can’t get my e-mail to download to outlook nor can I access the webpage for webmail?? But yesterday when it happened I just deleted cookies, temps and then it came back up. But today I tried the same thing and it still does not work. I can’t get e-mail to download to Outlook and I can’t ever access webmail via IE. Outlook gives an unable to access e-mail server and ie give unable to find page. But when I call my hosting company they say they can get to it fine?? Therefore say that it is something in my equipment. So I tried to access via my laptop (on my wireless network) it doesn’t work either, neither does my other desktop. SO I am guessing that it must be something local, maybe my interal wireless router settings? I have no problems with other web pages or with sending e-mails………. Could this be a problem in the settings of my wireless router? I signed into it and can see ips, dns ips, etc but am unsure how to proceed. Thanks – Traveler
OK let me start by saying I have not yet had coffee........sssoooo 1st - ping.......... I go to start run - and then how do I get to dos (i cant remember)? and when you say domainname you mean the domain name or their IP? If IP what is the easiest way to get that (call them)? I checked the router and it says firewall disabled? This is driving me crazy, I havent been able to get e-mail since 230P yesterday
Ok at dos prompt - c:\\documents and settings\ do I need to somehow clear that entry and then ping tried to type webmail.domainname.com after the above entry it said it was not a recongized internal/external command?
OK got it had to type ping in front of it.............. packets sent and received all looks good? what next?
