I have a movie on my laptop that I want to transfer onto a DVD so I can watch it on TV. Why is this so hard? I've been trying for a month now and can't get it to work. Hell, I can't even get the .FLV file to convert to a readable format.

I have tried so many different types of software it's ridiculous. I need to find something that will convert the file into a format that will work on a DVD. Then I need something that will burn the file onto a DVD disk.

Can someone please tell me a how to do this, or a modestly priced program that will do it for me?

P.S. I apologize if the next post down is steve calling me names

I use "Super" by eRightSoft for video file conversions. Great editing features. It's a resource monster when converting with edits but I do like it's capabilities for a freeware. It does not include a burn feature. I use Nero to burn.

The only format it neglects is Power Point (ppt). I wish they'd add it.

    SUPER

I downloaded Super and checked it out. Looks pretty complicated, but I haven't actually used it yet. Is Nero freeware? I've used it before and I thought it was, but I can't seem to find a free version now. I don't mind paying if I have to.

Nero is not free. There are free burn software's, I don't use any, maybe someone on here can recommend one.

Super has a great "help" file. Click on the help button and it will get you started in the right direction. A right click in the big blank space will give you a good menu of options. Start with a small sized file to practice with. It makes the conversion faster if its small. Click and play to learn, you can't break it.:)

I figured I'd have to pay for nero, but that's fine. Thanks for the advice on Super. I'm going to play with it tonight.

Post the brand of your laptop. Nero or Roxio CD's come free with laptops. Check with your friends, that have the same brand, to see if they still have the disks that came with their laptops. A Nero or Roxio disk will work with any model of the same brand.
