Is there a way to stop the blinking/scrolling/flashing/motion of ads or other displays on a web page? I press and hold the escape button, but it doesn't help. FWIW, I use Firefox for my browser.
Thanks Ken. I'll give it a try. Years ago, when the World Wide Web was new, ads scrolled as banners across the bottom of the screen. I taped a piece of cardboard across my monitor to block my vision of the banners. Now, when I'm trying to read a web page article, if possible, I'll go into the "print mode" to get rid of the ads. On other pages, where I don't have that option, the animation can become so irritating that I leave the site and refuse to return - certainly not what the advertisers hoped for.
Get AdBlock for Mozilla. Google "adblock" and "mozdev" You can thien right click and block any images, say block "http://ad.doubleclick.ent/flasing.gif", but you would really want to edit it to "http://ad.doubleclilck.net/*" so it blocks anyting from doubleclick.net ...Or you can just import somebody else's adblock file.
AL~ I use Firefox too. I stop the page from loading. It doesn't have the hourglass that says it's still loading, but when something gets on my nerves I hit my stopsign and it quits flashing! HTH, Frogger
