I have two old recovery disks from a previous computer that I guess I need to get rid of.... 1. Should I destroy them first? and 2. is there anyway I can see if there are any old pics I can snag off of them first? Like, can I open any files and look at them on the system I have now without messing something up? The disks are a back up from '06 and are XP. My system now is from '10 and is Windows7.

Or am I just wasting space and wishes?... just pitch them?

If you placed data or images on those disks, they'll be there. I have an XP system and would be happy to move those images to a flash drive.

Thanks Hat! Is that all I have to do? My MIL and BIL both run XP I can swing by and get BIL to do it. I thought it was something hard. Thank you :) Glad I held on to these disks!

I did have a 'scratch head' moment, as most recovery disks for visa )if they are on a separate CD), were read only disks, and I am unsure as to who you may have saved or stored data or images on them.

Yet, I will admit that I am far from being an expert on XP or computers.

    Best of luck!

There's more than one type of "recovery"? And multiple recovery disk softwares that all save data in different manners. O/S with personal data, just O/S, personal data only, directory saves, etc...

Note: Be careful putting those disk in a "friends" PC. Accidentally reboot and it may auto start a recovery at the boot, if their CD is the first boot drive choice.
