    Hi guys,
It's been a while. I've had a busy summer. Hope everyone has been doing well here.

We are gearing back up in school (as some of you know, I homeschool our 4 children) and I could use a little advice.

I'm needing to get another computer for one of the kids to run the computerized curriculum we use. I'd like to have XP on it already but I'm not that great when it comes to comparing/understanding what all the specs are.

I don't need anything really fancy. Just want to load the curriculum along with a few educational games. I'm also working towards getting us all wireless soon.

I've been searching the ads on here as well as on craigslist and it's making my head spin:) I saw several locally on craigslist between the $40 - $80 range which works great for me.

    My questions:
Any advice on buying off of craigslist (I never have before)?
What are the most important things I should look for in the specs?
Any other advice will be appreciated as well.

    Thanks

What specs you need depends on the minimum requirements of the operating system and of the software you plan on putting on it. Like what does this computerized curriculum require as far as operating system, processor speed, memory, and hard drive space?

For the operating system, newer generally requires faster processor, more memory, and more drive space than older. You can run newer operating systems with a slow processor, low memory, and a small hard drive, but things will run SLOW.

I have some refurbished systems here, some with Windows 2000, some with Windows XP. You can send me a private message if you want to talk about it.
