Has anyone here ever used a waveguide antenna for wifi? If so, is there a difference between USB vs. expresscard when connecting it to your computer?

    Here's a homemade "cantenna" I'm thinking about making: http://www.turnpoint.net/wireless/cantennahowto.html
    Or here's one for $40 I'm thinking about: http://www.cantenna.com/

I'd like to share my BIL's connection when I'm at the beach, but his signal is just out of reach.

Another idea would be wireless WAN through a cell phone company, but I'm still waiting for prices to come closer to the $49.95 that Time Warner charges. I'm also waiting for the quality of service to get better. If you've had good luck with such service at a good price, please tell us about it.

I have used the Cantenna to link to a LinkSys wireless router having a standard antenna.

The locations were over 500ft apart, and the reception was great.
