Occasionaly when I start my computer it will not start. It indicates I need to download/add:
    Windows root system 32\ntoskrnl.exe

I do not have a Windows XP operating disk. How do I contact Windows to secure this file? My computer is licensed for Windows XP, I just dont have the original Windows XP disk.

That error is addressed at Microsoft's support site here:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314477/EN-US/

Note that the "fix" Method #1 involves editing a file (boot.ini) that exists on your PC that handles part of the startup process. Any of the other methods they list will require having the XP install CD ROM.

If your a novice on the PC you can also try a restore to last known good configuration. Changing the boot.ini improperly could leave you with no access at all if you make a mistake.

    1. Start the computer.
    2. Repeatedly press the F8 key during startup. (1 press every 2 seconds or so)This should bring you to a menu with different options.
    3. Select "last known good configuration" (use the arow keys) and hit enter.

If it starts windows, let it go untill the mouse cursor stops blinking. Dont open anything. Be patient. Then reboot the computer again.
